security this section of the website has been left without updates
for a while now. However we will once again be posting brief details
about what's going on at M Lambe Construction Ltd on a regular basis
due to a high demand.

Mongol Rally - 2 Men, one very small car,
10,000 miles..........
Somehow I’ve been convinced to take part in the 2010 Mongol Rally.
This involves driving a car bought for less than £1000, with
an engine size less than one litre, 10,000 miles from
London to Mongolia.
We leave Goodwood race circuit
on 24th July and will be driving our 20 year old Fiat 126, as pictured
above, that we bought for £400!
We will pass through 10 countries and 7 time zones in just
5 weeks by which time we hope to reach the finish line in Ulaanbataar
the capital
of Mongolia.
For more information about our trip and the Mongol Rally in general
please visit our website at www.closebutnobataar.co.uk.
We are raising money for
the Christina Noble Childrens Foundation which supports underprivileged
children in Mongolia. Our target is
a mere £1,000 but with your help we intend to raise far more.
I know the current state of the economy makes this a difficult
time to entertain charitable donations but I would be grateful for
any support
you can offer to help raise money for this worthy cause.
To make a donation please visit www.justgiving.com/closebutnobataar.
If you would prefer to send a cheque please make it payable to the
Christina Noble Childrens Foundation and post it to Michael Lambe at
the above address.
Alternatively if you would
be interested in providing corporate sponsorship in exchange for
advertising space on our website and car please email
me at michaellambe@mlambe.co.uk

NEWS
FLASH!! for 07 - New Innovation!! - The EleVata
System!
Raising iron
work prior to applying the surface course has always
been a bit of a pain. First you have to set up the
extensive TM for the compressor/2CX etc, break out
the installed gully / manhole frame, raise to it's
new level, allow for it to go off before topping out
which means it being left in the raised position for
a while,
it should be ramped around to reduce trip hazards
and reduce potential damage to vehicles etc.. but it
still doesn't look good and is still a magnet for claims!
This is where
the EleVata system comes into it's own!
Forget about
all the above.. you work within the TM set up for the
surfacing team and work ahead of them! on the same
day! the whole process now takes minutes!
For the Manhole
/ Gully pdf installation guide click
here.
Dave Wardropper
approached us some time ago with an idea leading to
the solution you see here. We worked with Dave (Wrekin
Products) on a number of occasions to help design out
adverse issues and design in solutions. The end product
is what you see here and is truly a pleasure to work
with!
We
then approached Persimmon Homes West Midlands with
Dave to partner the release of this product. Keith
Ball
was very keen to push the idea from the Persimmon Homes
angle as he instantly saw the health & safety advantages
of the system.
Below is the
first ever EleVata gully system to be installed. We
will also shortly be instaling the first ever manhole
system, also at the Persimmon Homes flagship site at
the former Cape Hill Brewery in Smethwick.
Below from
left to right: Dave Wardropper (Wrekin Products), Keith
Ball (Regional Health & Safety Advisor for Persimmon
Homes), Dave Mee (Health & Safety Advisor for M Lambe
Construction Ltd) & James Airey (HRS)
No additional
traffic management for initial works, reduced noise
pollution/exposure (no breaking out), eliminate vibration
exposure (no
breaking out),
no raised
ironworks
over night, reduced manual handling (the frame is only
placed once), Less inconveniance to the residents on
the road to be finished!
"Design
out hazards", it's hard to justify not using it under
the CDM Regulations!

We

07 - New Project - Bellway Homes South Midlands
Keepers
Lodge This new regeneration project
is based in Chelmsley Wood, Solihull.
We
are very proud to announce that we have been
awarded the Investor In People title!
This means a whole lot to the company. The whole process
has been a real eye opener to the Directors, not as to improvements,
but how much we were already doing right in thier eyes and
what our people actual already thought of the company. It
was great news that we actually had to do relatively little
to meet the criteria of IIP standard.
The report from the IIP assessor was fantastic! Without exception
all those interviewed had only positive comments about how
they have been treated in the company and how they feel about
the future with us. We really do pride ourselves on being
a company that does invest in and stand by our people. We
always hoped we had a content workforce, the IIP assessment
process has done a lot to confirm what we have a loyal and
happy workforce. We would recommend this whole process to
all those out there who have not yet achieved IIP status,
as it is a great tool for learning more about your company
in a pro-active way.
The award was presented by Bill Giles (one of Britain's best
known weather forecasters) to Adrian McGowan (Left) And
Dave Mee (Right) of M Lambe Construction Ltd, following
a very informative talk from Bill on the actual impact
the climate changes will have on our indiustry and everyone
in general.
We
aim to move forward in this area now and
build on the position we hold to ensure
that with growth, we also aim to constantly
improve on the healthy and positive culture
we have in the company.
This
new project on the Tame Village development
in Tamworth includes groundworks. We have
already carried out the infrastructure works
for Persimmon Homes.
Great
News for everyone who passes by the Junction
of Dudley Road, Cape Hill and Grove Lane
in Birmingham. The 3 way temporary traffic
signals are now down and the new roundabout
is operational!
This
former 3 way junction was notoriously
busy before we started our works.
The
construction of the new roundabout in the
centre of the 3 way junction caused obvious
delays in the area. We would like to thank
all those affected by these street works
for their patience during the TTS phase
of the works, as given the scale of the
project, there were relatively few complaints.

07 - Sub Contract Partnership
of the Year - Persimmon Homes
M.Lambe
Construction Ltd is proud to announce that
we have been awarded the prestigious Sub-Contractor
Partnership of the year 2006 Award by Persimmon
Homes West Midlands.
This
follows winning the Sub Contractor of the
Year award last year.
We
have been working in close partnership
with Persimmon Homes for some years now
and in 2005 had a joint logo approved which
in itself has been a great honour, but
winning this award really has been the
icing on the cake.
It's
fair to say that the phrase partnership
is often taken with a pinch of salt, this
not so when it comes to the valued partnership
we have established with this regional
office of the Persimmon Homes Group. We
work together helping develop new systems
to provide a more efficient and safer site
for all.
This
award is yet another massive boost to the
company and we feel truly honoured to have
received it.

06 - Purchase of new Mobile Welfare Units
We
have recently added a new type of mobile welfare unit
to the fleet..
We have been
testing this style of unit for the past year, as yet
we are yet to find a better, more well equiped unit
on the market that will suit up to 4 persons.
They provide
our workforce with fully legislative compliant welfare
units, that are easily moved, takes up a remarkably
small footprint (considering all it has to offer!)
with a very high specification interior.
These are
an addition to the fleet of larger static (oasis style)
welfare units already owned by the company, which again
meets all current legislative requirements.

Jan
06 - M. Lambe launch online safety database
After much hard work and effort M.Lambe Construction have launched an online safety database that allows site managers to view all employee and machinery certification on this website.
The online reports are generated by a Microsoft Access database which contains the majority of the company's safety documentation and information. The database produces HTML reports by site and by employee/machine. This allows a site manager to see everything from an operatives Confined Spaces certificate to a machines Declaration of Conformity without contacting anyone or leaving the site office.
Employee's and machinery are sorted by site thanks to integration with timesheet systems and the introduction of a new plant tracking system.
The main ambition of the system is to reduce the amount of time wasted each month in delivering certificates to site managers as plant/operative teams move site.
The site is accessed
through the safety Database link but is password protected
in line with the Data Protection Act. Usernames and passwords
will be distributed upon written request. We have also implemented
IP tracking to ensure the database is gained by unauthorised
persons. For this reason the applicants IP address would
be required and should be detailed in the written request,
to enable a password to be issued.
It is also likely that certification for lifting equipment and COSHH datasheets will follow shortly.
Following the completion of the Chanterelle Gardens apartments for Bellway Homes M.Lambe has won an NHBC award.
The development in Wolverhampton pays credit to the hard work and dedication of M.Lambe employees
Jan
06 - Purchase of new excavators
We have recently
purchased 4No JCB JZ140 14T zero tailswing excavators.
These replace
older machines that were an increased liability due to the
counterweight travel outside the tracks footprint and also
adds further capacity to our owned fleet.
On
site recycling services now available!
Follow the purchase
of a excavator mounted crusher at the tail end of 2004 M.Lambe
Construction can now offer the environmentally and economically
friendly
recycling
of rubble on small to medium sites.
On small to medium sites recycling rubble has previously been uneconomical due to the high cost of static crushers. Using our own bucket crushers and machinery we can now crush up to 70 tonnes of rubble per hour!
The crusher can be set between 125mm and 25mm and can handle re-bar.
Using only one excavator and one operator allows costs to be kept to a minimum whilst the elimination of cartaway not only compounds costs further, but also reduces the impact on the environment.
We have recently purchaced
another batch of mini & micro excavators to combat the manual
handling issues associated with finishing
works to the rear of properties once access becomes an issue.
We now have excavators
in the fleet that will fit through a standard doorway using
retractable tracks. A great benifit to the company.
RTD compliance ensured thanks to in-house tachograph scanning
We now have the facility to generate RTD compliant reports for
our waggon/lowloader drivers, which self generate all the required
data to ensure we are constantly up to date and monitoring POA
and REST data on all our operators.
